Creating an Intro

Although this into is about 40 seceonds long, I only intend to use 10 seconds of it. I tried to keep it upbeat and funky, something the viewer and I would enjoy walking to , as that is the podcast's theme. I tried to layer the music so it all builds up. I think it is easy to listen to, as there isn't any crazy notes or beats, it's easy going and will hopefully begin to relax the viewer and get them engaged in the podcast by seeing what type of music I like and they will be able to relate to me. I chose to keep the 40-second long clip instead of cutting it down as a precaution in case I need to make up time due to not having enough footage.
Creating a Sting

For this sting I had the same goal as the intro music, relax the viewer into the podcast with a funky beat, something that inspires their creativity. As this is a sting it will run for a shorter time, due to this I decided to use fewer tracks and more single-use sounds, as this helps break up the music, it is less complex and more suited as a short segment to break up conversation.
Editing Timeline
This is my overall editing timeline, here you can see all our audio, which is shown as the green bar, and my use of stings which are in purple in a separate timeline. You can see how much I had to cut up audio, where I couldn't use the audio for a number of reasons., due to levels not being right ( people being louder than others ) or background noise such as wind or birds. I do wish we had enough time at the end to thank our guest for taking part however as we were on a limited time schedule this was not an option, but a good thing to remember for next time.

Here you can see where I added my sting , I adjusted the volume so that the sound would fade in and out between our audio
Here you can see where I added effects to my audio, I added the denoise effect in order to try remove any sound we created when moving around during recording.

Here you can see where I cut my audio and placed them together, the yellow bar is the volume level, I deliberately raised it as we started talking more quietly. I did this to keep the audio levels consistent

Unit Evaluation
Overall, I found this unit was a great lesson in the benefits of planning, and during the course of my work, I encountered many problems I had to solve. Luckily, some of these problems had already been thought about in our planning stage and we could fall back on our contingency plan, making me grateful for the planning we had done the week before. Unfortunately, our first guest cancelled, leading us to contact our backup guest, and due to weather conditions we had to abandon our original them for the podcast, and rely on our contingency idea. Due to this and the fact it all happened so fast, I think during recording I forgot some of my pre-planned questions on my audio script, this led to a few side-tracked conversations. Listening back to the audio in the editing process, there is sound background noise in our audio, due to the nature of our podcast all of us were moving around while taking photos, which led to this noise. However, in fixing this I gained a good exercise in software I had previously not known. After this unit, I feel more comfortable editing with this software which is a positive gained from this unit. Due to our conversations changing subjects so quickly I was forced to cut down a lot of our audio, which led to my podcast sounding a little disconnected. This also led to our podcast falling short of our originally planned run time. But, at the same time, our conversation is generally casual and easy to listen to, which natural subject changes and humour I feel are missing in some professional podcasts. Overall, I feel I encountered a lot of challenges during this unit which may mean I didn't produce the best work I possibly could I am still proud of my problem solving and adaptiveness in this unit. which I think are valuable skills to have to go into the film industry. My areas for improvement for next time are remembering to bring a printed copy of our audio script, to make sure we don't forget our questions, as well as this I think we should have dedicated time for our outro, to have a professional ending where we thanked our guest for taking part. As well as this, although we had to rely on our contingency theme, I believe I still managed to achieve the theme of the podcast we originally intended. This may well be because our guest was our friend, but we still produced a podcast with casual conversation, even though we were diving deeply into the topic we aimed to talk about. I feel the podcast has been successful, as it allows viewers to relax, listen to casual conversation and banter about an in-depth topic.
