Kind Eyes- with my edit on the left wanted to show how even though we grow with age, we still keep some childhood traits, especially as we grow older, we are compared more and more to children, like an old person may still see the world with the same innocence a child would. The glasses were a good border between the child's eyes and old persons face , you don't see a weird gradient from smooth to wrinkled skin. To do this edit i cut out both the child's eyes with the lasso tool, then i added them to a new layer on top of the old mans layer. I added a layer mask and , to see where to draw lowered the opacity and drew around the glasses frames in a back paintbrush, which will hide everything on the layer that is painted , this will make it look like the eyes are cut around the glasses.The hardest part of this edit was making the border between the eyes and the glasses look natural.
IDLES Album Cover- My goal with image was to accent the chaos the band conducts and show the energy within their live concerts, to do this i thought i would highlight one of their band members, the guitarist, and show how the each individual contributes to the energy. I chose to put the background in a pink filter as it is stereotypically seen as feminine, which links well to the bands, who support feminism strongly.Having the closest band member in black and white helps show a strong outline around him , so the viewer is drawn to him, being able to appreciate the energy he is putting into the performance, as a viewer you can almost imagine the energy of the performance you want to be there, feel the excitement, which i think would help make people want to buy the album.The hardest part of this edit was cutting around the hair of the band member, without incorporating too much of the spot light behind him.
Childish Smile-With this edit, i used the same technique as with the kind eyes edit to show how a child's smile can light up a face, which shows their innocence. we can also see this contrast in how the bright white teeth stand out from the image, showing they are different. the fact the image is in black and white could show that all the life and colour has been drained out of it, this could be because of age, showing that life is tough experience losing your innocence and being exposed to the evil side of humanity. The bright white shine of the teeth could show that a part of him still has a pure part of his childhood innocence in tact
